Chocolate Chip Cookies

 1 cup brown sugar

1 cup white sugar

1 cup oil

1 egg, beaten

1 cup Crisco (or 1/2 butter or margarine plus 1/2 cup shortening)

1 tsp. cream of tartar

1 tsp. soda

1 T milk

1 tsp. vanilla

3/4 tsp. salt

3 1/4 - 4 cup of flour

1 -12 oz. package of chocolate chips


Directions: Cream sugars, oil, Crisco until fluffy. Add cream of tartar, soda, milk, vanilla and salt. Mix well. Add flour slowly. Stir in chocolate chips.

Variation: Omit baking soda and milk and use 1 tsp. baking powder.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
