3 cups of corn flakes
2 cups of Rice Krispie's
1 cup salted peanuts
2 cups of Rice Krispie's
1 cup salted peanuts
Mix together in a large heat proof bowl.
Cook the following to soft ball stage on candy thermometer:
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup cream
1 cup sugar
Add 1 tsp. vanilla after cooking.
Add the sauce to the cereal mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon until well-mixed. Press into a 9 x 13 pan and cut into squares.
Makes 24 pieces.
Grandma's comments: I made a double batch for that large cookie sheet. You can add coconut if your family likes it. Have also used half light and half dark syrup. I think the dark gives more flavor.
This recipe came from Aunt Gertrude Lourens. She was Grandma's aunt, Grandpa Van Dusseldorp's sister. Aunt Gertrude would make this for Christmas parties.
